By "appellate" I assume you mean the FTP applet? It is a Java applet, so your computer and browser must support Java applets and you must give it permission to run on your computer. If that doesn't work, perhaps you could use another FTP client to connect via FTP to www.freesound.org and transfer your files that way. I think (but am not sure) that an alternative FTP client would need to support "passive" FTP transfers.

    It still will not upload

I am not sure I am doing it right but regardless when I try to connect it says invalid user name and password which is just not true.
Obviously , since I must be signed in right now since I am posting this.

    Hi Unknown Artist#1,

it recognizes my User name but not my password.

I had the same problem once (on a different site).

I logged in and changed my password, then using the new password I logged in to ftp. It worked. Changed my password back to original and I haven't had any trouble on that site since.

Don't know, may work for you.

    Good luck, Wibby.

I think some weird characters (such as accented letters) could cause problems when software and server try to communicate using different encodings.

I wonder if this has something to do with the '#' in your username?

    That can be easily tested:
Create another user account and upload a test file. If that works you know it is the "#" character that is causing problems.

    hmmmm..... erm..... I forgot...

I tried that but it did not work but I think maybe changing my user name did .
thanks for your help and a load of thanks to everyone that tried to help.

BTW That is some of the best lyric I have seen in a long time.

" Heaven in the sky is to die for,
Heaven on earth is to live for. "

Did you write that? Are you interested in collaborations cause you are a lot better than I will ever be,

    Big grin here! smile

Hi Sound Science. Glad you got it sorted out.

" Heaven in the sky is to die for,
Heaven on earth is to live for. "

    Thanks for the fine compliment.

Yes I did write it. I used to write a few snippets now and then but I don't think myself a good writer. (It's just something I used to do after a few drinks!) I'm very slow at putting my imagination into words, so I wouldn't make a good collaborator I'm afraid.

Some of my poems and quirky writing is on my website and blogs. Much of it is rather introspective and self indulgent I'm afraid, as I never considered it for an audience, but if you've got the time to wade through wibberish you are very welcome to use or adapt any of it for your music making. I want to keep copyright and all commercial rights to stuff I write of course, but I promise not to demand any money from you. Hahaaa.. - until you become a very rich and famous musician that is. (Are you already a very rich and famous musician?)

Most certainly you will receive credits Wibby and if anything got out big time according to BMI and a few other folks you have to get paid by someone that is the law as far as I know.

No I am not famous that is what was meant by ‘ Unknown Artist ‘ but I have known some who are.
I am just like thousands and thousands of others I mean I am out there to some extent but not among the rich and famous.
I think maybe cause I am not a strong lyricists but I am strong with melodies , vocal and not real strong but reasonably strong with instrumentation.

Thank you for the link smile

I will e mail you to your user name if I can figure out how ( I am not particularly bright ).

    You are very welcome.

If you want to send a private message to me (or anyone else) just click their username on a post to go to their profile page and then click "send private message".

I'm sorry that most of the "poetic" stuff is a few years old now, so you might have to click back through the blog pages to find it, but I don't write so much these days. If the material is not what you're looking for and you can't use it I won't take offence - like I said I only wrote it for my own entertainment.

If you just want to use the odd line here or there or mangle it up to get what you like I don't mind and credits not particularly important to me for that.

Good luck stirring your creative juices.

p.s. I might change my demands when you change your stage name to "The Artist Formerly Known as Unknown Artist"

Again thanks Wibby for all your help and I glanced at your site and it is very well designed , very beautiful.
You may of course change your demands proportionately to what seems right and fair to you , ah within reason of course.

    Hi Sound Science,

Thanks for the link to DH on DM, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although it's not a genre I regularly listen to I was impressed with both the artistic and technical results. I thought your style well developed and balanced toward the tradition you are following, and, hahaa..., I can see why my “Heaven” signature might have appealed to you now!

I'm not familiar with quintessentially “American” styles, being British myself, but I thought the lyrics were solid and fitted well, so I'm not sure why you might consider yourself a lesser writer. Haahaa... but you might have changed your mind about that since you visited Wibbledom Abbey.

    Regards,

    Wibby.
