By sheer coincidence, I discovered it just today and tried to log in with my freesound credentials, and it worked; a few other users were there too. A cookie issue maybe?

I just entered it again to check, I got in with my existing username and password, so there's no need for a separate registration. There are even more users on it right now smile

I recall that when the current version of the main site was put online, some of us (me included) couldn't access it and got a server error instead. In that case, it was a matter of old cached content interfering with the new site. Try from a browser/profile that has never accessed Freesound before, or try cleaning your cookie/cache. I didn't need to do it, but it's worth a try; I suspect you'll spend quite some time on it once you get it working smile

I've just tried it, without any problems too. Same user/pass, on linux using firefox.

Again, thanks. If all else fails, I think it might be time for the dreaded reformat - it's been a while. My windows system is quite tweaked, so maybe it's that, then again, my Linux partition is untouched, so it seems strange to me that it doesn't work from there. Oh, I envy you all smile

Sorry to hear that. Did you have a go with opera?

What linux dist do you use?

And is your flash player the adobe one, or gnash or what it's called?

Hi Kyster, just tried Opera, same. I use OpenSuse with LXDE (occasionally) and firefox with Adobe flash. It must be something on my end, I even started wondering about my router and my keyboard, even my brain (latter most likely) smile Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, have fun over there.

    Thanks smile

Hmm, that sounds very odd. Are the software all up to date then (especially adobe flash)?

It might also have something to do with a slow connection, but now a days that seems very unlikely.

Something else. Did anyone experience Freesound downtime for yesterday and part of today? I couldn't access the site at all.

Yep, I did. Terrible, this lonely feeling............

Going to freesound radio is no problem from my side.
Is there an explanation somewere how this works??

Record all the crap you can!! doesnt matter if it sounds like shit.

Yes on the downtime. Speaking from central Europe POV (GMT+1), the site was unaccessible for me from yesterday to mid afternoon today. And I highly doubt any software working better than your brain, so don't blame yourself for the radio mishap smile

For the record, the radio is working here on Aptosid 64, Iceweasel 10, Chromium 17.0.963.56 and xxxterm Browser (Webkit based) with Flash plugin 11.0.1.60.

The password, yes that might have something to do with your problem, but if yours is purely alphanumeric, it should go... It'd be more expectable on behalf of the radio login to allow less characters than the site login, so rejecting a perfectly valid site password.

As for slow address resolving, more than your cable I'd look at your ISP's DNS; I don't leave my router on all the time, so everytime I connect I get different DNS, and sometimes they're slow due to temporary problems or overload. So I either change them manually or just reconnect, and usually I get back to full speed.

Ah good, glad it wasn't just me. I might try changing my password to something non-alphanumeric - as a last ditch attempt. Later, I'm off to listen to some music.

    Cheers!

Have you tried clearing your internet history from your browser, cookies, etc?
When the new Freesound site came online I had that 'old cache' problem that someone referred to and the site was comming up as unnavailable, although it was already up and running.
Because there was some Freesound downtime yesterday and the day before, maybe you have that same problem.

Clearing the browser history / cookies / browser temporary internet files worked for me at the time of Freesound 2.0 startup...

    hmmmm..... erm..... I forgot...
