    Hi Head-Phase

Love your "I am the thing that goes bump in the night" !

    Hey, I lied.

    I have a mac OS-X something.
    Maybe version spotted Octopus.
Or are they up to Weasel now. (LOL)
I tried dropping the wave files into Keymap and they wouldn't load.
Tried loading the same files into Bias Peak, they wouldn't load.

no error dialog box than i could see.

Just now I tried loading them into Audacity - and they DID load.
Never had this problem with the freesound files uploaded individually, only these sample packs (sure saves a lot of time).
Guess I'll need to re-save them through Audacity.
I have no idea what's going on here though.

    The two sample packs are:
    8153__dj-chronos__jacob-s-ladder
    8922__quartertone__snaredrum-14x08inchtama-verylowpitch-multisampled

    Thanks for your interest.

    best

    Tom

    Thank you ;D

Okay, now im not familiar with apple's operating systems. The sounds work for me (Win7) so this is a strange case, considering that you got them to load now.

Im sorry I cant help you further, all seems normal with the properties of the audio.

    Im stummped.

I had the same problem with a pack I downloaded. The sample pack was in the wav format and contained over 100 piano keys, really nice quality samples. However in Cubase my DR008 drum machine could not load them, nor could any tracker software I have. This was a persistent problem and I can confirm the individual sounds play perfectly in Sound Forge or any media player.

Can't see any meta-data that might confuse some software.

It might be because they are mono, and some software expects stereo, in which case they need to be converted by Audacity or suchlike.

some software will only play WAVs with a 16bit bit-depth, and will choke on 32 bit WAVs.

Here's an odd one for you all:

I just downloaded one of my new sample packs.
    9899__tom-mclaughlin__ringmod-texture-multisample-1054a
aside from adding a number and my name to the front end of the samples,
the aif files would not load into a Reason NN-XT sampler, Bias Peak audio editor or Redmatica Keymap.
I have been able to open the samples Audacity audio editor.
AND - the original 24 bit samples have been down-sampled to 16 bit in the Freesound process.
or at least that's what Audacity says.

PLUS - uploading these samples took forever - I had to upload them one at a time, because the group upload would always freeze on one or more of a multiple upload. The samples attempted to be uploaded in total were well under 1 gig, several hundred megs total. it sure would have been faster with group upload.

AND - is there a faster way to give each sample the same written attributes other than copying?

    WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

    Thanks!

oh, and LOOP POINTS are missing, at least in Audacity.
these loops took evenings to calculate.

    sad

and, upon opening the folder they arrived in, the aif files are reading as text files on my mac.
    bizarre, to say the least.

    Hi,

I've managed to find a fix to my problem. The reason the sounds were not being accepted when loaded into instruments / samplers / etc is because the files came down onto my pc from a zip file, and as a result they all had their attributes altered to be blocked. When I right-clicked a sample and selected properties, at the bottom it said 'security' and an 'unblock' button. The comment by that said This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer. When I clicked unblock, it loaded into my drum machine and played perfectly. I had to right-click 51 wavs and manually 'unblock' each one, but it was worth it as I now have a grand piano to play around with smile

    Hope this helps.

ps. I use Windows XP Pro.

    Best wishes,
    Snapper

Sweet, I've got a workaround for Mac users. Took me a bit to figure out, but it fixes the problem of having .wav files from packs not open in itunes/samplers/DAWs. To start, load all the .wav files from your unzipped pack into a playlist in VLC. Next, go to File -> Streaming/Exporting Wizard. Then, choose Transcode/Save to File, click next...choose 'Existing playlist item' and shift click to select all the files. Lastly, choose your method of compression (I prefer uncompressed, integer) and save it to a folder. Hope this helps some of you.

Sorry to have taken soooo long to get back.

The sound set IS 16 bit, not 24 bit.
I have several versions on hard drive and thought I had uploaded the 24 bit version.

    oops.

Hey dudes, read through your chat, same shit, different pile, the files, when sampled, ie; clicked on, then dl'd, run/save individually, play through windows media player that autoruns, after allowing d.l. When I close it out. Open the file, which for some reason saves itself as a document, is not recognized, won't play, then it gives me flack about a missing .flac file. And did you notice that the "similiar sounds option" don't. Is it based on the wave form, and not the actual sound? Do you know of any other sites that aren't so user hostile? I am over 40 years old, not so compu-tater savy, and don't have the time to make my own SFX with an sm-58 and an old yuban coffee tin. besides I can't figure out how to hook my old recordable 8-trak player output into a usb port.
