the profile is pretty limited in telling people about ourselves . . . what do you do? where are you from? what do you use freesound for? what else about yourself?
haha. now i will answer my own question, to be thoutough:
i am nic stage, and i live in reedsburg, WI (usa). i am 22 years old and married to sarah. we have son named azrael, who is 8 months old.
i co-own a recording studio in madison, wi with a group of people (about 13). we are working on getting it built up more like a real studio (control room, iso booth, live room, etc) and are actually pretty close to completion. since i live farther from their, my friends ivan and nico are pulling a lot of the construction work.
i have an associate's degree in audio engineering, and i had one not-so-in-depth sound design class there (the degree program was more focused on studio recording and live sound renforcement). i am currently working to get a bachelor's degree in IT networking.
some of the people who co-run the studio are also involved in 23 productions, which is a record label started by my friend clay ruby about 3 or 4 years ago. 23 puts out a lot of different kinds of sounds, and i am involved in some of the projects released there (davenport, analog weapon, a mercury ensemble, orphan cocktail, and nic stage obviously). i also have my own label that releases things at a slug's pace . . .
i love audio, electronics, circuit bending, computer stuff (esp. *nix, anything network related, php, python, perl, etc, etc), and other stuff . . .

I live in Sydney, Australia, and am a High School student. I work a lot with sound, mostly out of passion, and a little for school work. I just bought me a nice little powerbook 12", and am looking at getting a 828mkII not too far in the future.
