Sound Effect In A Short Film

How do I do this? Do I have to put something in the credits?

Yes, I usually put something like "soundx.wav by soundcreator", then the full url to the sample (something like freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=12345) and a line saying "Released under Creative Commons Sampling+ 1.0 license".
    That should do it, imo.

    oh that helped alottt..

but i have another question: what if im making a small clip not intended for any commercial use. it wouldnt even deserve to hold a section on the clip for attribution.

people would say handon this feel like the ending of movie yet yoube only shown us 40 seconds of animation. why attribute it

if there is only a way to find out wether i can avoid it.

I know what you mean...like when you make a 5 second fireball test in After Effects and want to show it off on youtube with a freesound sound in it....I recommend you put the sound credits in the video description, most video hosting sites have that feature. If you can't do that, send a link of the video to the original creator of the sound effect so they can at lease see where their sound was used and comment on the video.

    Better films through sound design!

There is only two ways to avoid attribution:

    1. Contact the author and ask them if you can use it without attribution. But remember the author may expect something in return.
    2. Dont use the sound.

You can use something like the line below:

Name of Sample Sample Courtesy of Name of author taken from freesound.org

    Hello,
if i read this, i assume, that it is possible to use freesound sounds for my own film (raytracing animation in 3D). This film will be cc-by-nc and of coarse all used sounds will be attributed in the credits at the end of the film. Will this be O.K.? Most sounds will be changed (just a part of the sound, made a loop parts cut out, changed speed, changed to surround sound etc.) and all sounds together are a kind of mesh up in the whole film.

There are a lot of used sounds, so credits will be longer, no problem... But it is not practical to ask all authors here separately for using their sounds, if sampling plus licence is not compatible to cc-nc of my film, perhaps some authors do not read regulary here and do not answer.

    Best regards

Yeah, I do believe by-nc is compatible with sampling+, because it is slightly more strict. Nobody can use your animation for things they can't use the samples for (such as advertisements) and then some. So you should be ok.
