Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere online selling fake fur suitable for shielding mics? I've had no luck in the shops...

I usually use fake fur from fabric shops, like this.

I also made one from faux fur like the stuff from coat collars. It looks much more like the expensive proper retail windscreens, but after some limited testing I think it may be less effective than the other stuff. I didn't have much of a foam windscreen underneath, so I'll need some more testing before I can be sure of the results.

This is the audio test I recorded with that windscreen. There was very little wind anyhow, during that recording.

I might just take a risk and buy some fake fur on the off chance it doesn't have a very thick backing! There are no fabric shops near me that stock anything like what I need - I live in Cornwall.
