Hey Guys! I was wondering how on FL studio 8 can I get the perfect grindcore / death metal guitar sound, as I've tried a lot so far? My plan is to make some idst. Egrind. I almost got the perfect sound today, but the compressor wasn't enough to control the distortion, and I spent about an hour trying to find a balance.
Tbh Im really not good at this yet and FL studio isn't exactly the best place to be making Egrind, but that's what I'm stuck with.
Hi Cyko - wouldn't it be much easier to put use a stand-alone processor to do the job? A simple Boss Metalzone would do the trick. I even saw a guy getting the right sound out of a Boss DS2.
Ah, because I dont have a guitar, Im using a synthed one, I can only play drums, so I do all my drum tracks myself.
Ah, right, that makes it impossible to use a stomp box. In that case: I don't have any experienced with synthesised guitars so I can't give you any advice... I play my metal with my axe
ahh, well I'll need to find some kind of solution eventually.... TO GOOGLE [dun da da daaaaa]
Google-grind @ 200 BPM...!
200? hah I double bass and stuff at 260
Ah, good ol' grind. I just stick to mid-tempo black if you don't mind
Yeah Im more a Death / Black guy but I cant miss an opportunity for some hypergrind.
I used to use some metal guitar pedel vst plugins and run fl slayer through them in FL but I couldn't tell you what they were seeing as my old computer crashed. =[
But I used them for some grind/brutal death stuff
if you wanted to get real ghetto with it (I'm assuming you're just running a regular comes-with-your-computer sound card), you could run a cable out from your speaker output into a stomp box and go from the stomp box back into the soundcard's input. Solo the guitar track, create a new track to record onto, and hit play.
I might not sound the best, but that's what more distortion is for
Most break core other than Aaron Spectre is going to be The Slayer VSTi run straight off of the Power Chords or a tweaked Jungle Setting. Sequenced usually in (with FL the Piano Roll-) or a sequencing program. I would use the Free fruity blood overdrive, A free Lowpass Filter or Notch Filter. Loads of VSTs for guitar distortion are the same thing, Waveshapers. Shape your own distortion wave for it as well. The only other thing you might want is an Amp simulator like helian FUZZ of FreeAmps or something, pick a cabinet and then run it through a sterolizer and widener to make it L + R. Another one is Compression, Compress the hell out of it, Vintage - Low Feedback lots of noise Stacked ON TOP of the Filter. How you stack your VST's is KEY. . . It's Important so like
VSTi - Powerchords FL SLAYER
VST's In order
Blood Overdrive ( CUT THE MIX VOLUME )
FUZZ - Or Amp Sim
- Delay or Reverb - (Really Light just to make it sound realistic)
Fuity Free Filter
And maybe a Saturator
i lost the setup i used but today i got inspiration from kat to try to get a really good grind/deathcore guitar sound and i ended up with the best frikken guitars ive ever heard!!!!! i myself have never been fond of the autochords/powerchords on Slayer, and i dont think ive ever used them in a track, a use the piano roll so i can use the full scale, so i used the strum setting
my setup from what i remember was this:
FL Slayer to...
>FL Blood Overdrive (mixed low)
>(mono) BOSS DS-1 emulator plugin
>old style cabinet/amp emulator
>Reverb (as kat suggested set at a realistic level)
I got guitar rig 3, that should make things easier...
crazy old thread revival time.
Hey Cyko, (carlw from Kollias forums here) did you get a good slam guitar sound? I'm interested to know what kind of results you can get without actually being a guitarist.
Question:i have a weak on-board sound card (realtek HD) and there's no way that i can record my guitar or vocals.I tried the last version of ASIO4All and no dice. But a couple of windows XP installations before i managed to record my guitar somehow.I think that at that point i used ASIO driver that comes with FL8...But when i tried that now...nothing.It records the guitar (or growling) for 3-4 seconds and than the sound just fades and weakens.I know that i need a better sound card, but no money...For now.Any suggestions?I recorded a palm mute hit and imported it as an audio clip and use the piano role to play the guitar parts (in FL,but that's to much work and not quite what i want.Any ideas?PS:i use exterior distortion (DOD Corrosion)
Thanks in advance good people.
I do not own and cannot play a guitar. Although I enjoy playing a few riffs on virtual guitar instruments.
I would suggest you visit http://www.acmebargig.com/ and try their high quality free VST Amps.
They have a wide range of Amp heads which will cover pretty much any sound you are after.
If you are into heavy stuff try their "Razor Head" and you will find that things will get very hairy very quickly as you boos up the gain!
You will need a cab simulator to go with their heads.
You can try the free LeCab from Le Pou. There is a link on the Acmebargig website.
Or you can try Voxengo Boogex - Note that voxengo has its own amp sim, so you will need to bypass it: Set Drive to zero and then adjust the dry pre-cab volume until you get the right volume. You can sellect from the built in cabs or provide your own impuls response files..
Have you checked that the battery on your distortion pedal is not dying out? Try with a brand new battery.
Nope,i use direct power source.I think it come down to a crapy sound card, but even then a simple recording would be nice (no multichanneling).Anything else?
That which leaves me no peace in mind is the fact that i WAS able to record in a previous win installation...I don't like using FL's slayer so much, and i installed DVS guitar, but still...It ain't the same as i play it (no palm muting,no fast picking, and synthetics bursting from every pore-don't get me wrong,i wanna make industrial grind death metal thingy, but i don't have control over my guitar).
