Hey folks. I stumbled upon this site and could use some help. I am an art student currently working on an installation art project. Lately, I have been focusing on the theme of childhood (you can see an example here: http://scottgeraci.com/Swing) as a way to try and deal with some of my own personal history.
Anyway, I am doing a piece with the tentative title, The Weight of Words. I am creating a dark room (all black walls, ceiling, and floor) and hanging in the center of it will be a black cocoon/womb like structure that the viewer will be able to stand inside. I would like to have an audio component playing in the room as a part of the installation.
I am looking for adult male and female voices to make some recordings. I have spent hours looking on the internet but haven't found much that fits my idea. I did download a file from here but it is really longer and not exactly what I am looking for.
Anyway, I would like to find sample of adults scolding, belittling, degrading, yelling at a child. If, like me, you had similar experience as a child and would like to be a part of this, I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to use your own personal experience (just leave out names) and stick with universal phrases, like "you", "you're" etc. My plan is to layer all the audio into one track so that no one voice is distinguishable and what comes across most is the emotions. I know from experience that dredging up the past can be hard, so thank you for even considering adding your personal experience to this.
If anyone needs some sort of direction, I would love to have the following phrases included as they come directly from my own childhood.
Female voice: "You wait until your Father gets home!" , "I am going to send you away to a school for bad boys!" , "You are worthless." "Get out of my sight, I don't want to see you anymore." "Why can't you be like your brothers?!", "I don't know what I ever did to deserve a child like you!" "You are such a hypochondriac!" "You disgust me!"
Male voice: "Your mother tells me you were bad today." , "Bring me my belt." "This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you."
Male and female couple: arguing together. Loud and verbally abusive towards each other and/or the "bad child."
I know this is a lot to ask from a Newbie but I will gladly repay the favor. I love to read aloud, worked in radio in high school, and have been told I have a good speaking voice. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi sg,
I've made a sample for you. It's awaiting moderation. I'll let you know when it's done. A few points of note ... firstly I'm an Aussie so hopefully the accent isn't an issue. Secondly, I used a voice morpher for the male voice, cos i'm a girl. I think it sounds reasonably authentic although it has a tad of an echo. Given you are going to cut and smoosh several voice files together it might be ok.
I make 3D art installations too, however mine are virtual pieces. I know how hard it is to get the right vocals so I hope this helps.
Good luck!
