I'm a sound designer based in Edinburgh and I'm about to create a new sample library. I have a few ideas about what to record but thought I'd post on here to see what people really need.
Are there any specific samples that people just can not seem to find?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Sometime ago, I struggled to find the glass smashing sounds i was looking for. I wanted the sound of a glass window being smashed and hearing the glass fragments fall onto the ground.
Might be a difficult recording to achieve.
Very delicate, microsounds are difficult to get right. A mouse scurrying off, sniffling, eating a piece of cheese. Insect sounds that aren't overhyped.
Good, strong wind that isn't boomy.
I'm not much of a downloader, but there seem like a lot of game and movie creators who have a need for realistic and hi-fidelity gunshots and explosions. Those are difficult to achieve unless you are actually there, so there are a lot of bad imitations using sound combinations or old archival tapes.
I have tried recording joint clicks and gut sounds with a contact microphone... but I was unsuccessful.
These sounds may not be very useful for others. I think it is more a matter of personal curiosity if they could be recorded with a contact mic.
Thanks folks!
I've just got a new Rode NTG-2 so I'm going to try is out on a few things and see what sounds good.
The micro-sound idea is quite interesting as I'm working on a scene with rats scurrying at the moment. Those tiny movements can be hard to find/fake.

Can anyone of you do a voice sample for me?
I would want a baby girl voice say Odibie Production.
If you can't get a baby girl voice then just a regular.
Thanks.
Hey,
Welcome to Freesound, Nice to have a member from Edinburgh on , I studied at Jewel and Esk also
Most of the request forums are filled with your standard "i need a sexy female saying something sexy for my sexy dj mixtape"
The most downloaded sounds of mine are mainly standard household sounds, Drones and the occasional transformer/complex mechanical sound.
A good pack to make up that would see quite a bit of attention would be a good monster vocal pack. ive had trouble recently finding a good source of electricity noises aswell, maybe those ideas might help you out
Welcome to the club,
Jarred
If you can, I would very much appreciate a sound effect of a couch falling over. Now this may seem very specific but it's for a short film I'm making in high school. I hope you will be able to do it and would I very much appreciate it!

star wars light saber sounds if you can manage it. thx
a other legend (that found the way to wikipedia) says:
The lightsaber sound effect was developed by sound designer Ben Burtt as a combination of the hum of idling interlock motors in aged movie projectors and interference caused by a television set on a shieldless microphone. Burtt discovered the latter accidentally as he was looking for a buzzing, sparking sound to add to the projector-motor hum.The pitch changes of lightsaber movement were produced by playing the basic lightsaber tone on a loudspeaker and recording it on a moving microphone, generating Doppler shift to mimic a moving sound source
