Hi to all of you,
I'm the soundengineer for a small play wich takes place on a (verry) small cruisseship.
Here for i need some sounds of the ocean, seagulls, shipbell and so on these i can find here and otherwise on the internet.
But i also need a clean sound of an anchor (chain) dropping in the sea and one were the anchor is raised again you know the
typical "ratling" sound tik tik tik... These i just can't find, there are some movies on youtube but the sound quality is
realy bad. I would try to record the sound myself if i could but there aren't any ships or smal boats with anchor's nearby here were i live.
So i'm asking you guys for your help.... you would do me a realy big favour

To record yourself I would suggest standing on a deck or a Pier and lugging an Industrial Chainset off of it and letting it record the sound of it flyin in, and also i would reel it in parallel (with the same speed and ratio) that a ships anchor would be raised slowly! Or ask your cruise ship? if they have one....
Well thanks fore the input but the play takes place on a cruise ship but the actual show is given in the lokal townhal
And for this reason i need some "ocean sounds" wich i can find and wich i already have on cd, but i also need the sound of an anchor and that is a tough one to find and to record because there aren't any suitable ships nearby here where i live.

Maby there is someone now who can help me with the real sound.....
I tried to make the sound with the files of benboncan but it didn't worked out like i hoped it would.
In the holliday season i got on the road to scout for some suitable boats with ancors but the water had turned in to ice
everywhere so that didn't work out.
