I'm a math teacher. As part of my lesson I want to introduce mathematicians from history. I would like to have a sound effect of going back in time so that students can learn to associate this effect with taking specific "history of mathematics" notes. It can be "spellbinding" or "quirky" or "pompous". I'm just having trouble finding something.
thanks for your help!

This falling Shepard tone may be of interest to mathematicians .. http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=65592
[more like slowing down than backwards though]
thanks Timbre for the interesting link! I was working around this, but didn't know about the Shepard tone

... didn't know about the Shepard tone
An hour of this tone would be sufficient to cause insanity
Stereotypical reversed sound effects to indicate time going backwards …
outer-space stuff form Jovica may fit the bill ... http://www.freesound.org/packsViewSingle.php?id=3070
