Hi,
I'm designing a flash game revolving around various guns and explosions and I'm having a somewhat difficult time finding a sample that fits a certain game play mechanic.
One part of the game allows you to have a weapon that can be upgraded at a certain point, and the same weapon in the future will also be ready to fire.
My first instinct is to have a robotic or cyborg-esque voice announce the events as "Weapon Upgrade Ready" or "Weapon Ready To Fire."
If this is a very simple task for anyone or if by chance anyone knows of the existance of such samples which I suppose is a longshot, then please let me know!
If however anybody has any alternative ideas or samples they think might be useful for these audio queues then please let me know.
One benefit I feel however in using Voice samples for this queue is that the gameplay can get pretty crowded and busy, and no voice samples are used anywhere else so I feel like voice samples will certainly stand out amid the chaos. I suppose this creates the requirement that the voice samples are pretty clear and booming so that they aren't drowned out.
Thanks for any help or guidance on this
Hello again ,
here i have an example of what such a "weapon ready" sound can sound like.
It's just an 1 minutes and 19 seconds mp3 example - not created by me.
If you like one of that sounds in that example, i can try to imitate that one with my synthesizers. Or create a completely different one.
Well, here it is: http://www.seele07.de/musik/scifi_battlefield.mp3
Soundfull Greetings,

I'd say the effects on the voice definitely seem the direction I'd like to go, but I'm also definitely looking for a more robotic voice, and more in the direction of gruff and raw. The voice in the link you provided seems much more human than I was expecting or aiming for. Something with a bit more grit and bass and less humanity and tone. If that's not too hard a task to pull off. I really have no idea about the complexities of audio editing and creation, so sorry if I'm asking too much!
Thanks again
Hello carn1x,
what i wanted to show you with that example, was, that you can use Other Bleeps and Sounds instead of a Voice Sample.
In that example mp3, you can hear some Sounds, that can fit your needs, if you want to exchange the Voice Samples with that effects.
Sorry, that i did not explain that more understandable.
Soundfull Greetings,
.Ingo.
PS: for a Robot Voice, i can not really help you, because i have not a good microphone here, sadly .
Ahh right I see.
On second listen, some of those background noises I was ignoring first time round do seem pretty cool however unlike most of the sounds in the game, such as bleeps and clicks, these are meant to be informative to the user rather than provide simple feedback on user actions.
As a result, I think such sci-fi noises may simply be lost in the crowd. This is why I'm leaning towards a vocalised audio sample.
The only alternative would be to provide much more visual feedback alongside the basic sci-fi noise so that the user learns pretty quickly that the noise specifically means weapon-ready or upgrade-ready.
I'll mull it over and get back to you, perhaps I can make use of non-vocal audio for this after all.
Thanks again for your offer and support
Robot says "Weapon ready to fire" ... http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=76254
[could do with de-essing and de-hissing in some parts]
Just submitted a new and improved version: I've cut back the "ToF" in "Ready To Fire", de-hissed and added bit of reverb on a couple too.
It should appear in this sample pack in 24 - 48 Hrs
