Hi Freesounders,
I'm an indie game developer, hoping to bring out my first game soon.
I'm after a sound I heard my friend's coffee machine make once. But we could never get it to make the sound again.
A build up of steam was released suddenly, and the sound fizzled out very quickly. A little like briefly spraying an aerosol, but a richer steam sound (richer? warmer? waterier? I don't know. I'm not a sound guy). It happened after a coffee had been made, and as the filter holder was removed (for cleaning) — a build up of steam was released. If you could find and record something similar (a quick burst of steam) I'd be eternally grateful.
I'm looking to use it in my (fairly abstract) game when balls are shot out by a player.
Thanks,
Pengo_au.
Maybe you find one of these helpfull?

Thanks for the response.
There's some good ones you've pulled up there. Maybe I'm a bit fussy but none are quite right to me. The pressure cooker [http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=66364] is probably the closest to what I want, and shows my problem too. Either the sound is muted prematurely (the first two bits) or it drags on too long (the final long sound) I've tried increasing "tempo" to speed it up, or fading it out early but then it sounds unnatural or artificially quietened. I really want just a sudden burst that dissipates naturally and quickly (in less than a second). Or something that sounds like that. Not sure if it can be engineered from the existing sounds or if it really needs a physical set up to be recorded.
Well, i know, where the problem is and i tried to keep that in mind while editing the pressure cooker .
here is my edit: http://www.seele07.de/temp/pressure_cooker_edit.wav
i did not only fade out the volume but lower the frequency a little bit too at the end .
Seems to me, that it sounds a little bit more natural now, no?
If you like the Sound, i'll upload it to the Freesound Database.
Soundfull Greetings,
Ingo
Thanks again, Igno.
That sounds better than what I came up with. I've made a shorter/punchier version based on yours: (overall speed/pitch changes and cut the tail off)

I may have mangled it a bit, and it still lacks the ompf I was after, but it's good enough.
Peter.
EDIT: changed url to freesound
Hi Peter ,
hey, that one sounds good! (at least to my ears)
The Sound, that you uploaded, will appear on your "Sounds-Page" (Freesound-Database) after a Moderator had a look on it and accepted it, as you possibly might know from your first sound.
Good Luck with your Game Project ,
Ingo
Here it is on freesound (my version of your edit of the pressure cooker)
