I'm looking to make a freely distributable, multi-velocity soundfont of a good sounding (decent will do) drum kit and/or kit pieces (the more the merrier). I know there are acoustic drum soundfonts out there, but I've yet to run into one that sounds good enough to make use of. The idea here is:
* freely available to anyone
* nothing wonky sounding - crazy high attack, weird resonance, snare with no snare, etc. - the more natural the better
* fairly dry - no heavy verb, distorted smashing, etc. - the more natural the better
* multi-velocity - let's say 10 or more velocity levels per piece - hihats would need special considerations, and i'm open to any ideas
* brushes would be a big bonus
* soundfonts would be made available as kit(s) and individual pieces
* gm mapped
Samples would need to be
* wav format - 16 bit 44 khz would probably be best for size, but i would certainly work with whatever you provide
* around 2 seconds in length - i would work with anything longer, and this is just a rough guess to keep the size down. if you wanted to just record a single take of multiple hits, letting each hit decay, that would be fine, and i could do the slicing/dicing on my end.
Maybe you have a kit or some pieces and a little spare time? You will get full credit for any samples that you provide, and none of this will ever be bought or sold. Any takers?
I have some samples of my Yamaha Maple Custom kit and some selected snare drums if you want to try them. The snares have mic placement variations like top, bottom, side... If you want email me and I will email them to you in a zip file.
