Mix i made with FL Studios, the drums are really bare. Various samples from the BBC sample page, various drum sample sites, voices from moviewavs.com, phone ringer taken from thefreesoundproject.com which was provided by FreqMan.
I was wondering how people would use that phone.
Its a great sound, fit in nicely with the song too. What did you use?
I'm not sure what you mean.
I used a phone... hooked up to my phone line.
I recorded it with an old Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone connected to the microphone input of my NZ-N707 SonyMD recorder.
Unfortunately I had to dip down to analog to transfer it to wav via my Creative Labs Extigy and SoundForge 8 - so it goes.
I meant the microphone. What I meant to say was "What did you use to record it?"
The microphone I used was a Sony ECM-99 Stereo single point microphone.
It seems to have a good frequence response from 50-12,000 Hz... solid between 300-4000Hz... with a tad little more sensativity between 8-11kHz (more from the sides for some reason) before it drops off. I recently made a wooly wind screen for outdoor recording, which makes it look like an electric muppet.
It looks a lot like the AUDIO TECHNICA - AT822 (but that one will pick up from 30-20,000 Hz) At least that's what they say... as a kid I used to hear up to 22kHz... but lately I'm lucky if I can hear 15.5kHz
Im looking to buy a good microphone and recorder for a low price, nothing too professional but not above $300. Any suggestions?
Good stuff! Takes me back to the days of listening to the original matrix soundtrack...
I changed the drums a bit, they're more chaotic and destructive now. The drums were pissing me off since they sounded horrible, needs a bit more work though
great track dj chronos..i love it, my only criticism would be a tad too much reverb so bass booms and distorts a bit too much and drums get lost. but excellent. check out 'se electronics' mics-made in china so cheap but awesome quality and good reputation in industry over here (uk).
Yeah i know, I should've perfected it before releasing but hopefully with more tips like yours i'll be able to make it better than I had expected. Instead of buying a mic right now im going to save up money for a Moog Little Phatty analog synthesizer or some Reason software, probably the latter though.
fl studio kills reason. don't waste youre money. hell if you want a copy that bad i'll dig through my stacks and find it and GIVE IT TO YOU.
as a flstuido user since the first version i really wanted to hear your song but it wasn't up when i went to listen. any chance you have it up somewhere else?
its working. and i'm listening.
I love all things analogue and reason etc, but if you want some serious analog sounds without spending anything then check out free downloadable softsynths called 'albino' and refx 'vangaurd' and 'beast', and nusoftings 'dahornet' which is a free softsynth based on the old skool classic acid keyboard called wasp. -all awesome analog gear.
i just bought a small second hand analog keyboard off ebay -'korg microkorg' with vocoder and mic included and it rocks..i will upload some samples soon.
its working. and i'm listening.
haha that's Deep Flow, i added that on there for kicks. It's one of my early productions so it's really monotonous.
dude youre what 16? maybe 17. i'm 32 and i've been djing since 88 and have done so in many different countries from sf to nalick russia and there's one thing i've learned and that.
to hate trance.
your beat was TRANCE- or is "deep flow" is that what the kids are calling it now?
come on now.
what you need to be making is deep soulful funky techy house. but when you stop taking e and slow down on the harder stuff you'll move away from that trance sound.
i'm not hating on you-i'll give you love for keeping dance music in your heart-but hey i hate trance and i'm gonna call them like i see them

i believe flstudio comes with wasp-yeah its nice so is albino and a few others you mentioned.
i bought the mini korg when it first came out and still use it to this day
nice machine at a cheap price with a built in vocoder-that sounds good. some super phat bass sounds and arp is tight and easy to play with.
i just wish they had taken out the 80's sounds and placed newer ones in there.
The name of the song was Deep Flow and it doesnt really matter that much to me because im trying to make d'n'b. Personally I'm not a big dance fan, if you want me to take it down then i'll take it down.
You're right, i am pretty young but it's not like im trying to be a professional about it, im still learning things as I go and there is no one here to teach me anything, and on top of that the only musical background I have is maybe 4-5 piano lessons about 7 years ago. I just began doing this in February and it's not like this stuff just pops in your head overnight.
you don't need to defend yourself.
i was gonna mention that the dnb track you had up was the best.
and i am talking about your nauackiauaua something track not your deep flow track (which both were trance to me)
either way i was deep in to jungle BEFORE THE TERM JUNGLIST.
so i'll feel you on that. but again as you get older you'll go away from that sound and more towards the deeper more mental stuff.
don't get to attached to one style. its inevitable that you'll move away from it.
and don't sell your self short. teach yourself-your ears know's whats good and what's not.
By the way, it's called Nebuchadnezzar, not nauackiauaua. Nebuchadnezzar is the name of a hovercraft that is piloted by Morpheus in the movie "The Matrix".
Nebuchadnezzar was also the name of several Babylonian kings.
If you want to make fun of my music then at least spell it right.
