The Freesound Project
About...
The Freesound Project is a collaborative database of Creative Commons licensed sounds. Freesound focusses only on sound, not songs. This is what sets freesound apart from other splendid libraries like ccMixter.

Jan 28, 2010 :: KaleiVoiceCope
Here's some cool news from MTG: "MTG developed it's first facebook application: KaleiVoiceCope! It records your voice and makes it sound like an old man, monster, alien and more. Check it out and post the result to your wall!". Fun! :-)

Sep 4, 2009 :: Predicted downtime today, Friday September 4th, 2009 (around 12:00 GMT+1)
Hello all. Jordi and me (but really mostly Jordi) will be moving Freesound to the new server today. We're slowly but very surely running out of available disk space on the old machine, so it's time to move. For those interested: Freesound will now run on Sonora, our new web server. I'll introduce you to her when we're up and running again. Downtime is predicted to be about 2 hours around 12:00 GMT + 1
Sonora has space for 12 hard drives, hot-swapable and is running RAID5 for performance and redundancy. Right now it uses 4 x 750 GB drives, 3 for raid5 (so we can use 1.5TB) and one drive sitting there to jump in if one of the other breaks down.
Previously we moved the database to Chiapas, who I presented to you in this blog post.
