Sep 4, 2009 :: Predicted downtime today, Friday September 4th, 2009 (around 12:00 GMT+1)
Hello all. Jordi and me (but really mostly Jordi) will be moving Freesound to the new server today. We're slowly but very surely running out of available disk space on the old machine, so it's time to move. For those interested: Freesound will now run on Sonora, our new web server. I'll introduce you to her when we're up and running again. Downtime is predicted to be about 2 hours around 12:00 GMT + 1
Sonora has space for 12 hard drives, hot-swapable and is running RAID5 for performance and redundancy. Right now it uses 4 x 750 GB drives, 3 for raid5 (so we can use 1.5TB) and one drive sitting there to jump in if one of the other breaks down.
Previously we moved the database to Chiapas, who I presented to you in this blog post.
Aug 31, 2009 :: Nice donation!
Just a small mention: user mkoenig (who apart from his sounds on freesound also runs free-loops.com and soundbible.com) just donated 400USD to freesound! Hurray for large donations!
Jul 15, 2009 :: Summer school "Interacting with sounds of Porto" almost starting
This saturday the smc2009 summer school "Interacting with sounds of Porto" will commence. The registration is closed, but if you happen to live in Porto (Portugal) and you happen to see someone with a field recorder walking about this weekend, you know it's us ;-)

If there are any particularly good concerts/... this weekend we definitely have to see (Kuduro, anyone?), send us a message at [[ support (at) freesound (dot) org ]]
