A stereo field-recording of a Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis). Rode NT4 > FEL battery pre-amp > Zoom H2 line in.
AcclivityThis one was done by setting up the gear on the South side of a hillock where this woodpecker was foraging for ants (out of sight obviously) then walking away from the hillock, round some woodland and approaching from the North driving the bird to the mics. Worked a treat.
This is a marvellous recording, and I'm quite jealous! I don't know how you get so close to your birds like this and the owls. Well done.
Outstanding capture! The call *is* distinctive and very pleasant to listen to.
What an amazing call!...imagine you could hear this miles away.Nice capture.
