This zapping sound is actually a pirate cutlass being unsheathed and slid back into the scabbard a couple of times. The sound is the metal blade scraping against the mouth of the scabbard; the deep "thump" at a couple of points is the sound of the hilt hitting home! I recorded it with a Logitech USB mic and ran it through Audacity. There are 5 stereo tracks here. The first, at center, is the basic sound at its normal pitch with a full dose of gverb effect, then with fade-in and fade out. The second track is that track lowered in pitch from D to G and bass-boosted, panned all the way left. The third has identical effects to the second and panned all the way right. The fourth track is lowered in pitch all the way, as far as the software will go, and panned all the way left. The fifth and final track is RAISED in pitch as far as it will go-which gives it a processed, buzzy, electrical sound-and placed at center.
