A recording of a typical metal 'hammer-on' guitar riff with distortion.
the
guitar technique hammer-on is done literally by "hammering" down the
string with a left hand finger, often performed in conjunction with a
note first plucked by the right hand on the same string.
I'm still working on mastering this technique.

Yak buddy that was sloppy work, learn how to "pick" the hammer-ons.
On youtube you'll find Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen teaching you how to pick clean.
Also Joe Satriani's great technique on "The Mystical Potato head groove thing" is to be admired and learned from.
