A walk thru Essaouira, Morocco, starting at the French quarter, proceeding thru the ancient medina streets full of tradespeople, shopkeepers, tourists, children. The streets are traffic-free bar cycles and motor scooters. French, English, Spanish, Arabic and other languages are heard. Zapping noise at about 12m42 is a spot welder. Recording ends with me closing my hotel door. Feb 2006 Sony MZ-N10 and MS907

This is really beautiful.
Essaouira is such a nice town! I visited there this summer, your recording brings back memories!
did you stay at hotel des ramparts?
What I like about this is that in the midst of all the exotic goings-on.. there are a couple of British women who are talking about "a café by the sea who do nice salads." :-)
I'm hoping to use this for an introduction animation for an evening with a Moroccan writer and his passion for film. I'm using an old postcard from the Fifties with a cinema in Casablanca on it, these sounds should be very fitting with some echo added, as well as some barking dogs, horning cars, etc.. Thanks!
