This is a recording of surf on Lake Michigan. It was recorded with two AT AE5100 mics located within two meters of the surf. It has a very good stereo field, I think. The wind wasn't too high, and the surf was just right for my tastes.

Cool, thanks for the detail, I love seeing how others capture the sounds they upload. Use the same setup with both cardioids and omnis...works well for most nature stuff. Great recording anyhow. Could you upload a 44100Hz, 16 bit 3 minute sample from that?
Augh! I meant to say, 3 to five FEET, not yards. sorry.
Howdy, DF! These mics were mounted in an ORTF arrangement, so they were about 7" apart. Looking at my notes, I wrote that they were 3 to 5 yards from the surf. There was no baffle between them. The mics are cardioid, and I really am very happy with cardioid mics in ORTF stereo arrangement. This works great for classical music mic'd from a large distance, it creates a great stereo image even if they are not close to the source. As you can here in this sample! I love it.
Tschuss!
Great recording thanks for sharing. What was the distance between the mics, sounds large? Or did you have a baffle between them?
