Steam locomotive TVRM 610 chugs by the mic with its passenger excursion consist on the rail line of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, Chattanooga, TN, USA.
I used a crappy (noisy) old Radio Shack stereo condenser microphone in "wide" mode mounted about 5 feet from the tracks.
Being an excursion train, the compressors and other noise from the passenger consist drowned out the locomotive after it passed. Also, I really wish the attendant on the rear had not blown that "tweet tweet" whistle as he passed, but such is life.

Was looking for some old steam train sounds for our student production and this one is great. Thanks!
Exactly what I need! -I'm making a short documentary on trains for a school project. And I agree, the "tweet tweet" is annoying.
Thanx Mate it´s just perfect !!
