This is part of the Freesound Continuum project and is a remix of this file:
http://www.freesound.org/people/Puniho/sounds/147521/
I:
- made a reversed copy of it;
- vocoded the left channel with the reversed right;
- vocoded the right channel with the reversed left;
- reversed the right channel;
- used a formant filter;
- used a granular scatter processor.
All done in Audacity.

Thanks! I noticed the underwater kind of sound too, it wasn't planned, just a result of "what happens if" effect fiddling :)
And yes, Audacity has a built-in vocoder, other than supporting external ones in LADSPA, LV2 and VST formats; I don't know if it's in the stable version, but the beta versions I've been using lately all have the vocoder.

I quite like what you did with it, it really has an underwater quality about it now!
I didn't know Audacity has a vocoder function?
