The sound of an approaching thunder storm. Recorded from the window of my house. You can hear the rain in the gutters and on the paving just outside the window. This recording was made on an R-09 44.1 kHz @ 24 bit from a Rode NT-4 stereo microphone then, normalised and converted to 320 kbps MP3 using the Lame MP3 codec. MP3 has been used as there is really nothing here that a 320 kbps MP3 can't handle (based on A/B comparison of the original)and it keeps the file-size down :)

This is perfect! Exactly the sound I was looking for. Rain on stone makes for a completely different setting than on dirt or grass.

Thanks, reminds of the monsoon in Bombay.

mrbadhat, if you download the file, it sounds clean. streaming it from the site is the only time i hear noticeable compression.

I think you may be mistaking the metalic sounds of the guttering with the rain running down a down-pipe for mp3 artifacts. It sounds the same as WAV or MP3

The mp3 encoding has ruined this otherwise lovely sample. The high end is noticeably digitally compressed. Try posting it as a wav or flac.
