Dozens of wintering Common Crane calling, interrupted by three cars passing very fast (which seems to stimulate their callings). Recorded at Moheda Alta, near Obando (Extremadura, Spain) using a mid-side setup with Sennheiser MKH60 + MKH 30, Shure FP24 preamp, and PCM M10 recorder. Decoded to mid-side stereo with free Voxengo VST plugin
As read in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crane_%28bird%29: "Cranes are highly vocal and have a large vocabulary of specialized calls. The vocabulary begins soon after hatching with low, purring contact calls for maintaining contact with their parents, as well as food begging calls. Other calls used as chicks include alarm calls and "flight intention" calls, both of which are maintained into adulthood"
