Binaural recording of Pine forest ambiance, with birds singing (and fluttering near the mics!), wind on trees, and buzzing insects. Between 1 min and 1:30 an airplane overheads. This was done with a pair of Soundman OKM mics (covered with a DIY wind screen) placed at each side of a tree trunk, and plugged into an iRiver H120 recorder. The rig was then left unattended. The 16-bit original was high-pass filtered and most hiss from mics removed. Uncompressed sample also available (20071104.forest.04.binaural.wav). Great stereo image and presence, my favourite forest sample ever.

excellent,
thankyou
This is worthy of more comments... I guess when people sit down and listen to this they must be so lost in nature they forget to comment or something, heh. It's really nice.
It's fantastic! Really great work, mate.
it's simply beautiful !
Thank you for the kind words. What amazes (and delights) me is that the equipment used to get it costs about 1/10 of the other, cumbersome pro rig I often carry around. Love the concept...
