Sonic fiction, a story with sounds. This sample is a heavily (and I mean it) edited mix of the following:
20070824.dog.panting.wav
20070816.snoring.duo.00.wav
20070705.ultrasound.wav
20070705.ultrasound.stretched.wav
20070705.cricket.nightjar.wav
20070628.mosquito.wav
20060614.unknown.source5KHz.flac
42917_inchadney_Owl.WAV
Now for the story:
In the small ghost town of Kolmanskop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolmanskop) houses are abandoned to the sand storms of the surrounding Namib Desert, in SW Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namib). One night not long ago a wandering Aardwolf (sort of a Stripped Hyena, just weirder; http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/aardwolf.htm) got into a building for a lie-down. And in a room with a fireplace she settled right at the spot where you could imagine a carpet below the thick sand bank that covered the floor. Soon the room resounded with the snoring and breathing of the fearful beast. The noise being chorused by calls from night birds and insects too shy/wild to get in. In her dream the Hyena saw a beloved master sat by her, which stroked her head and said nice words. She was a pet! How long this lasted we can't know - time is odd when you dream - but she waked up in confusion, panting like a dog.
According to the Dream Dictionary "To see a hyena in your dream, suggests that you are overwhelmed with responsibilities" http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/h2.htm. I say ok, but what does it mean when hyenas dream with humans?
