a cold morning in the marshes of Doñana, Cranes, Lapwings and Corn Buntings sing in the distance. Light wind, some insects buzz. This sample is certainly nothing spectacular, but I like it because of the feeling of distance, space and loneliness. Recorded with Senn MKH 60 + MKH 30 into Shure FP24 preamp, Edirol R09 recorder. Decoded to mid-side stereo with Voxengo free VST plug-in

In September 2005 (the off-season) we stayed in Matalascañas with the express desire to walk through Doñana. It was hit by a tremendous drought (http://collaboratory.nunet.net/phertz/huelva/huelva-Pages/Image4.html). Not many birds singing then, so it's wonderful to hear this recording of what it's like in the spring.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it, gracias amigo.
About the pic, the skyline you see in background is not the ocean, but sand dunes covered with small trees and bushes. The sea is right behind the dunes. You can get idea from this google maps view:

dobroide, this is extraordinary, even as it's just a "day in the life". I hope everyone who hears this views the picture-link: It's this vast, flat marsh leading to infinity. (Is that the ocean in the background? hills?) But it's like the end of the world out there. And the sound-file is just peaceful, very active, hushed and packed---all in one. This is field recording at its best, "nothing spectacular," as you say: But spectacular because you captured "nothing spectacular" beautifully.
