This is a short passage (verses 7-18) from the 12th chapter of the Qur'an called Yusuf or Joseph as he is known in English. Many from the Jewish or Christian faiths may well be familiar with his story already, he is regarded as one of the great Prophets in Islam. His story is beautifully detailed in this chapter. It can be read fully here http://quran.com/ (chapter 12). This recitation is by 'Amir al-Mohalhal of Saudi Arabia recorded during live prayers two years ago.
Please do NOT use this sample in any sort of musical production.

I completely agree with ejaz215's wishes.
As much as even I want to use this, inevitably what would be the use? Some stereotypical "middle-eastern" song to be stuck into some videogame? Some song that requires some superficial "ethnic" flair?
Guaranteed no music project ANYWHERE could ever use this properly. No music project ANYWHERE could do this justice.
So get creative and do something else; that's what I'm going to do.
Thanks...I will be using some of what you have uploaded to help better explain Islam to my middle school students. You provide a good resource. I completely agree with your request to not "sample it" in music. We all need to work at being more sensitive to the feelings of other cultures.
how can i not cry? i was pierced by the few words i happen to know the meaning, towards the end.
i wish, i really wish i could perform a recital as beautiful as this...
BEAUTIFUL
Beautiful, affecting! Thank you!
