Orikkai is one of the several gamakas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamaka_%28music%29) in Carnatic music. In this recording, done at IIT Madras in India, the artist performs the Orikkai gamaka several times
The process of performing it involves the artist singing a swarasthana (note region), moving up to the upper one and coming back to a lower one (Eg: Pa-Da-Ma). The artist performs this gamaka several times in a raaga called Kalyani.
