This recording was done at the end of June 2008 in the „sandpit“ part
a quarry. The Sand Martin is sociable in its nesting habits. At this
spot there were nearly 100 pairs nesting close together. The nests are
at the end of tunnels, bored here in sand. You can hear the twittering
song of the birds who are on the wing, which becomes a conversational
undertone after they have settled in the roost.
Shure WL 183 microphones, a FEL preamp into an iriver ihp-120.
