a sound from underwater depths? a submarine? a metallic object hitting a sea-rock? this is an excerpt from experiment in modeling underwater sound environment and underwater listening experience. no recordings were used here. main sound generators for the underwater effect were frequency-modulated sinewaves with carefully tuned amplitude envelopes. these went through a fluctuating reverb effect and a custom-designed FFT-based filter. the repetitive metallic sound on top is basically whitenoise through a bank of bandpass filters, with some varying feedback leakage, delay and some other tweakings.

it sounds just like a buoy floating on top of the water floating along the waves. the metallic sounds is evident of the chains on it...just want to let you know. I used to be a sonar operator.
