Analog Mid-Side processing.
This is the KickSnake01 processed. From the Kyma analog converters I send the Mid signal through a tube preamp and the parametric EQ of the Algorithmix "DSP blue" (a 80 bit mastering EQ). The Side goes to a MXR-10 ten band eq. stomp-box (original 80's) and to a Joemeek optical compressor with a very fast attack.
Mid-Side tips:
To change the relationship between the mono and the stereo signal, the ambiance, you can insert an "in-line" Mid-Side Encoder-Decoder and move the Side fader. This is like to have two samples in the space of one! If you automate the Side fader you have the ambiance where you want... with no CPU cost :-)
