The wind from light breeze to moderate in the bare trees, standing in, or more specific, at the edge of a swamp, between high trees the mic pointed toward the rural area called 'Rijskampen' where hundreds of geese gather for the night.
Description (see geotag and picture);
Standing with my equipment in the mud. Trees around me, but in front open field for 50 meters, than a row of high trees, than open field. Hundred meters from me a local polder road with a some traffic. Behind that 2 km rural area, partly called the Rijskampen which is a natural reserve for the meadow birds. Small but it's nature. Behind me the city on 700 m.
(The recording location)
The geese are on 300 m – 1 km. There is a fluctuating wind (2-4 bft South) high in the trees. Not on my spot because I'm protected by a natural wall of soil and brunches of 3 m high. It's wonderful how beautiful the wind sounds in these naked branches and sometimes in the oak behind me covered with dry leaves that fall after the winter. The creaking if the tree sometimes, so nice.
Right of me an old railway-dike that now is an footpath to the 'Moerputtenbrug', a 600 m long steel bridge over a swamp. In the beginning of the recording you hear some people walking there.
Because this is the first day of the year you can by private fireworks you hear some bangs in the city. No, it's not an army of hunters who shoot the geese. In Holland the is always a discussion if, and how much geese should be shot to protect the farmers land. It will be thousands this year.
It's windy winter-day in December, starting half an hour before sunset. At the end it's almost dark. Time to go home.
**Remarkable**; after 13.25 minutes all the geese fly up for a moment alarmed by something. A wonderful moment.
Hope you like it.....
