Rafael enjoys learning and experimenting with both emergent and existing media.
His main interests currently include the composition, production and execution of music.
His performances consist of completely improvised electronic music. This includes the sound design of each synthesizer. He also makes use of Processing, an open programming language, to create applications for his live appearances, primarily to serve as a real-time visual depiction of how he produces music.
RM18, is his idiosyncratic microtonal tuning. The system divides the octave in eighteen equal parts starting at nine Hz. Whilst still in an experimental phase, it offers exciting free harmonic research possibilities without the need to adjust to any specified criteria.
Currently living in Mexico City, he can be found in his studio, where he spends most of his time.
