Pitch-bending a composite of string samples to emulate the sound of some high-speed machine powering down. I was playing around with the speed/pitch shift on my friend's Protools setup and he showed me how to gradually bend the speed of a sample. So I layered a bunch of strings and went to town.

  sounds great in reverse, just the sound I was after to create a nice build up to an event.
