Similar in usefulness to HerbertBoland's popular CinematicBoomNorm.wav sample, this is a totally synthetic sound of a distant but muffled explosion. Lots of lows, perhaps inaudible on small speakers. Not quite so "ringy" or gong-like as the original Cinematic Boom, and perhaps better because of that fact. This one is low-filtered and somewhat granular as if realistically ambient. Created within Cool Edit Pro.

Thanks! There are a few others like it in this pack, and #4 is my own favorite. Sometimes you need a quicker decay though, and the stuff in my "thuds" pack work better (like #1 at http://www.freesound.org/people/zimbot/sounds/122120/ though for some reason links in these comments to other sounds do not appear to be working right now; maybe they'll fix it by the time you read it, though).
