Description by melack the sound of my old printer (epson stylus 600) when i switch it on. it is broken and it makes strange and amazing sounds, trying to clean the printhead and making other unknown operations... the low reverberation is produced by the printer plastic box. listen, download, cut.

jamius: im just gonna say that my head while sleeping was arround 20 cm from the printer (with a thin wall in the middle). i just stick a note praying "not to print while i am sleeping", cause it was a fucking nightmare!

This thing rocks my socks off. Completely. Gotta be one of my most favorite sounds. I used to have a printer that did the same thing! (wipes away tear) Brings back so many memories... nearly kicked the freaking thing across the room... uhm... [comment removed] (no incriminating evidence)

Oh my god, I had this scanner and recognise the noises! The same minute long pattern every time you turned it on after leaving it for a while... and the funny thing is, most of the sounds in this file the printer makes when it *isn't* broken! Well, that or my printer was broken in almost exactly the same way as yours :P

lol i remember this type of sound from my old printer on Amiga 500 :)

i think there are certain sounds (such as the old zx spectrum loading sounds) that kids nowadays will probably never get to hear.
(unless they find the sample on a website such as this) :)

Ahhh the memories...
paulsounds above made a comment relating to some similar sounds from old Amiga printers. Indeed, I had one of those too.
If you had to manually move the printing head for some reason (for example, to clean the cartidge or to remove a missfed papersheet) the printer would "loose track" of where the head was. So when the printer reset itself and tried to move the head it would go too far in one direction and would produce similar sounds to the long tweeeeeeeets at about 19s, 35s and 50s on this clip. Only the Amiga printer was a bit lower in pitch.

LOL! This is Epson style! Sounds like my old 9-needle Epson back in the 80s on my C=64. The only difference: mine was still working, while making this noise ;-) Thx, you gave me back this memories to primar school! *sigh*
