Great ambiance of a thunderstorm. If it didn't say it was a remix, I would never have known, except possibly for the lack of any other sounds for a full 75 minutes. I have this on loop on my work computer with the headphones on and it is very relaxing. Good dynamic range, also.

yeah umm i feel asleep one night around 7:00 and woke around 11:00 so after that i couldn't go back to sleep and i had school tomorrow...so i thought hey i like the sound of rain and i want to finally use my ipod so i thought hey maybe i should get some good sounds to make me sleep. It's now 1:00 am i just got the mp3 downloaded and it's great i will have no problem...thanks alot

Fantastic

I've listened to various thunderstorm tracks and they either die off quickly or are corrupted by music. This one is great.

The only thing that would improve it would be loon calls during the beginning. The native word for loon calls means "Calls up a storm".

I went to school in Zimbabwe near the Muligwani range of hills. It is famous for it's thunderstorms and population of leopards. This is as close as I've ever heard. It takes me right back there - I can even smell it. Very well done and thanks!

This is great. I love thunderstorms and have looked all over the net for a long thunderstorm without music in it. Why people feel the need to ruin a good thunderstorm with an orchestra is beyond me. Thanks.

This is a good recorded multisample but...
it's not good bit rated. 128? I know, it's about
the size but specially on rain effects this
compress is the worst you could do to this Sample!
You could convert it to 160 so you could avoid
the anoing high frequencies sounded compressed.

I needed to reduce the dynamic range for sleeping however; I use in-ear 'phones because of racket in the above room; but then the crack-type thunder would wake me up. I used 'normalize' with a sound editor and put it on my mp3 player.

Very good. I agree on the bit-rate. Rain-noise is very complex and needs high-quality. However, the length is generous, with no annoying 'musak', extraneous noise, etc. at all. The contributor of this file understands what is called for.

this is perfect - I just moved to California from NY, and they just don't have thunderstorms out here. Its one of the things I never thought about missing, but I really do! I've been listening to this all night now, and its making me so relaxed and happy. Thanks so much -

Very nice. Like others, I would like to see this lossless or at least higher bitrate MP3-- compression artifacts are apparent in the higher-frequency rainfall, though the thunder sounds good. I might lowpass the whole thing to closer mimic the sounds of a thunderstorm from inside-- i.e., taking out higher frequencies to simulate being separated by walls and windows. Should help with the compression artifacts as well.

Beautifully done. I find nothing more calming than a thunderstorm, and this is perfect for when I need a sleep aid but the weather won't help me. :)

I fall asleep to this nearly every night. Just skip it to the 50 minute mark and hit the sack. Really calming and awesome to listen to.

This is nice, but it would highly benefit from lossless compression. Those RHumphries samples are much higher quality and deserver lossless compression or at least a nice high bitrate VBR.

VERY nice. Great background sound for working at computer. The only reason I gave it one less than 10 stars is that I had to crank both the iTunes and computer volume all the way up to get normal volume on the mp3. Other mp3s I have don't need the full volume. (It just means any other sounds that come through on the computer will now *also* be extra loud). Otherwise -- very much appreciated!!!!! Thanks for the offering!

Yes, excellent, quite natural, very long, great. We're on Vancouver Island and miss the 'good old' thunderstorms from Germany. It's very realistic, except the 'normalisation' of the thunderclaps. I would have preferred the maximum dynamic range, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Thanks!

We live Queensland, Australia, so you can imagine, we are certainly not strangers to a great thunderstorm. And Queensland is the centre of the great Aussie thunderstorm so this is better than any recording I have managed to put together. Awesome ambience... thanks again.

the complete recording does not download. I right click and the 'save as' dialog box appears, then after selecting a save location, it downloads in an instant, a very small file of only a second or two of the beginning (I'm guessing since I have not heard the complete hour 15 mins version).

Doing the same exact things to download other members sounds here, their recordings downloaded with problem.

That logically eliminates any problem with my computer, the network, or the freesound server.

The problem is with the file (or its' link), it has been altered to this fraction of nearly zero time, because it is no longer free, or some other marketing reason or mistake?

Whatever the reason (or rational, if this is intentional),

This is Very Frustrating.

(If this is intentional, the courtesy of some message ((such as, *this file has been removed, or is no longer free*)) upon the moment that one tries to download this file, would be *very much appreciated*.

Martin, I listened to your entire mix creation of your storm (by playing it online through my PS3).

I am still not able to download it onto my PC. I don't why, but I'm not concerned about that anymore.

I'm just grateful that you created this very long storm, and it is awesome (my girlfriend wants you to know that it 'helps our love life', she also fell asleep while listening to it).

The length of this recording is great for people trying to 2 relax, meditate, enjoy cuddly intimacy, and/or fall asleep, it is Very Peaceful and natural sounding.

Thank You Martin, I will b looking forward to any new storm creations that you record/splice 2gether in the future.

You could easily sell this recording (implement copy-protection into it 1st of course), and split some of the profits with the other members who recorded the original sound bytes.

You could do this in the future, after a few more nature/weather type recordings you could put it all 2gether in 1 CD or SD card for like $10 each (you would sell a lot more, a lot faster at $10 each). It would be awesome, I'm sure.

For right now, Thank You Very Much for making your wonderful creation available for Free, it probably has helped a lot of people get out of the winter funk during these hard economic times.

OMG!! I fell in love with this recording!! I'm a storm chaser and let me tell you I fell asleep listing to this and Had it on auto playback....the funny part is that i also woke me up and startled me...i rushed out in my yard only having underwear on only to find my next door neighbours starring at me thinking i was crazy!! LOL

Wonderful. I was beginning to tire of the complete lack of rain-fall in the area and as I love everything about rain and storms (minus the destruction of course) This should be wonderful. In the dark with my surround on, who could tell the difference?

aliwade31 im not sure why your having that problem it could possably be due to audio codecs on your computer you may need to update. you should also try playing the track in a couple different programs or just try downloading the file again,

i just downloaded this its amazing im off to sketch to it, THANKS FOR UPLOADING THIS!

Awesome! This puts me right to sleep and doesn't become redundant like some of those white noise machines that just loop the same 10 second sound over and over. If I hadn't read that this was a remix I never would have known.

This is absolutely amazing! I love the attention to detail and non-repetitive nature of this remix! I played this through my PA/amp system to capture the deep rumbling of the thunder and it felt so realistic (and very relaxing).
