Description by acclivity Response to a request for silence - http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5558#5558 - just too bizarre to be ignored! 10 seconds of blissful silence - and it's even loopable if you want it for longer! (Will anyone d/l it ... how about you Schulze?) And do give it a rating. Feb 07: Requested shorter versions, Silence1, Silence2, and Silence5 are now also on FS.

It shouldn't have been so hard to find a silence.wav so thanks for providing one. Now I don't have to hear any sounds from my computer, even those that override the default no sounds scheme in windows (like activesync). I couldn't even record silence on Total Recorder! Perhaps provide a 1 sec version for folks who don't want to not hear the full 10 seconds. I give the sound a 10

Being restricted by our ICT politbureau in deactivating the eardrum bursting beep device, I found that assigning silence.wav to the corresponding windows xp events is the easiest way to silence buggers like the volume control. Thanx!

Even when I replace the default sounds for Activesync in Control Panel with the silence file, I still get those &^*%*&%& maddening bleeeeps at frequent intervals. What am I doing wrong???

A repetition of silence 15 times and followed by sleighbells sample gave me enough time to get up the stairs and look as surprised as my son when Santa jingled past the window!
(I couldn't record silence myself, no mic recognised)

Big Thx! Good that "silence" is not a joke for everybode :) I got here becouse I'm testing new CRM software that has for default horrible bell sound that cant be disabled! You can only specify alternative sound file to be played.
