Description by daveincamas Immediately after the 21-gun salute I heard the sound of a noisy airplane taking off from the nearby airport. When I saw that it was a WWII era fighter plane I turned the recorder back on. The plane makes two passes over the parade route, and when it is directly overhead, the propeller noise is intense. Sorry I don't know my fighter planes well enough to tell you the exact model. There is also a bit of wind noise here and there. My next priority is to make some kind of wind zeppelin.

The plane sounds to me as if it could be a North American T-6 (Harvard/Texan); they have a very distinctive buzzing noise which we hear at the start and particularly 1:25ish onwards, this is due to the propeller tips breaking the sound barrier.

yep...that's a T-6...my friend's dad had one as a crop duster...i'd know that rasberry buzz anywhere..lol..

thank you for this sample. we have an ag cat which does scenic flights over our coastal aus town. Big radial. Sounds just like this.
