Similarity searches

Technology based on work by the MTG and powered by BMAT. In very broad terms it works like this: for every sound a set of unique values is generated which describe this sound. For example, one of these values could be the mean of all audio values. Once this vector of numbers is generated the server can figure out the "distance" between two sounds by comparing these vectors.

Waveform display

The waveform display uses the spectral content of the wavefiles to color the waveform. A descriptor called 'spectral centroid' (spectral centroid = average frequency, weighted by amplitude, of a spectrum...) is used to derive a color. Basicaly colors towards blue are low frequency and colors towards red are high frequency.
