Am I allowed to use any sound I find in a game?

    Hi,
So I am making a video game and stumbled across this very promising looking website when searching about audio for it. My one question however, is am I allowed to download any sounds off this website and use it in my game or do I have to ask permission for each and every one?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

you don't have to ask for permission for each sound, but you have to look what license applies to each sound.

For each sound you find a note on the license that applies right below the download button. Have a look there and see what conditions apply.

If a sound has a non-commerical license, you may not use it if you make any money with your game, i.e. by selling it.
    Example: http://freesound.org/people/ERH/sounds/62891/

If a sound has an attribution license, you have to mention the sound's origin in your game's credits.
    Example: http://freesound.org/people/klankbeeld/sounds/380078/
See http://freesound.org/help/faq/#how-do-i-creditattribute for an example of how to credit.

If a sound has a cc-0 license, you can simply use it with no strings attached.

Is there a way to filter by license type? For instance, google image search lets you search for images that are free to use for commercial purposes. I would like to be able to filter sounds this way on this site, only showing cc-0 for example.

After you typed in a sound to search and hit 'Enter', on the right side of the page will be a red 'licenses' title, under which you'll find the 3 (or really 4) main licenses that the site uses. If you click on one of those, it will filter all of the searched sound to only show the license you picked.
