This quiet capture is from the Charlestown Harbour wall, at Saltpans on a calm sunny morning.
The sound of birds can be heard in the surrounding trees and out over the still water.
Occasional Traffic passes along East Harbour Road. (Unavoidable really).
And of course the obligatory aeroplane.
A meeting took place recently which formally agreed on plans to turn Charlestown Harbour into a saltmarsh (or 'coastal marsh').
This is a tidal wetland between land and sea, regularly flooded by tides of seawater - a marine coastal ecosystem dominated by salt-tolerant plants.
These plants are essential to the stability of the salt marsh in trapping and binding sediments.
This plays a significant role in the aquatic food web, delivery of nutrients to coastal waters, supporting terrestrial animals and providing coastal protection.

Thanks Marcel.
Strange how places so distant from each other can sound so similar.
Glad you liked it.
Much appreciated.

Wat een schitterende geluidsopname. Met de zilvermeeuwen weet ik dat ik aan de kust ben. Het klinkt in de haven van Vlissingen niet anders.
