Woodpecker in Devilla Forest.
Capture of a woodpecker drumming on a tree in Devilla Forest, Fife.

Tascam DR-07X.
On-Board Mic's.
This woodpecker recording, captured during a walk through Devilla Forest, was by sheer coincidence.
I'd intended to capture just the general ambience of the forest, but got very lucky when the woodpecker began drumming almost immediately after I began to record.
Apart from some wind in the pine trees, some faint background noise can be heard; mainly traffic and construction noise from a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). But not too invasive.
The forest was originally part of the Tulliallan Estate, and only officially took the name 'Devilla Forest' after it was acquired by the Forestry Commission following WWII.
The name 'Devilla' is derived from the Gaelic for 'bad farm' or 'place of no prosperity'.
