Busy traffic on the A985.
Traffic passing on the A985 at Pattiesmuir, rattling a loose manhole cover.

A recording for @kevp888:
Captured back in January 2025 on a walk from Limekilns to Douglas Bank Cemetery, near Pattiesmuir.
The pathway crosses the busy A985 road at this point, and one can often wait for quite some time to get across.
On this day a manhole cover was loose, causing no end of annoyance to the little house at the junction, I'm sure.
(They did fix it shortly afterwards, but I notice it's doing it again).
However, the rattling cover does provide an element of interest in an otherwise typical capture.
The A985 eventually crosses the Kincardine Bridge (over the Forth Estuary), which when it opened in 1936 was the largest swing span of any bridge in Europe.

You're welcome !
Indeed, it is always hard to guess if the additional elements will or won’t improve the recording and the listening experience.
Furthermore, some people will enjoy your file because of these additional elements, while some other would prefer a straightforward recording, sometimes easier to match their project.
So, just trust your ears and feelings, Then hit record ! ;-)

Thanks Kevin.
I believe I learned (once again) from your wonderful capture that it's the additional element/s that make or break.
I have a number of 'passing traffic' captures which all fell short, but the loose manhole cover made this one stand out a little and worth a listen.
I still struggle with the fact that these additional unexpected elements mostly enhance a capture, and aren't actually the irritation I took them for at the time.
Thanks for listening, and thanks for the *'s.
Much appreciated.
