This clip contains an extended recording of electronic voices from all over Europe heard on the shortwave radio one afternoon in February consisting of hundreds of private radio stations in Europe attempting to establish contact with an American station on the East Coast as the shortwave propagation begins to open up across the Atlantic ocean which separates them. Like Marconi before them, each participant attempts to do the best that he or she can to get themselves heard thousands of miles away, knowing that many others are engaging in the same effort. The recorded voices contain the exotic accents of multi-lingual participants processed through superheterodyne mechanisms, giving them a sound similar to that used in Star Wars with imperial troopers. Can be used with other radio and electronic sounds to create soundscapes for science fiction and military intrigue films and media assets.
