The roomsize of the reverb is a little bit unrealistic, but i like it.

it is the sound you hear on the vessel when the sonar is "pinging".

The sound on the movie "das Boot" is for dramatical effect.

The sub in that "asdic" time wil hear a puls of sound in approx 24khz.

The ping you hear is an effect of echo's inmiddiate after the burst caused by impurity like salt, sand, etc etc.
In fact when you are "pinging in distallate water you wil hear probaly nothing.
