Active morning at river Dommel and hamlet Halder.
It’s a shame about the distant aircraft noise and the chainsaw, but perhaps this is still lovely. An electric tourist boat glides along the narrow river. The guide on the boat talks about the history of the castle and its surroundings. #2:20 The clock at the castle’s monastery strikes eleven.

About the picture
A view of the small river Dommel near the hamlet of Halder. From the dyke, you can see the jetties with rowing boats. On the opposite bank stands the simple Nieuw Herlaer Castle with its outbuildings, which has been a listed building since 1973. Reeds line the bank. A little further on there are many trees. As there is little wind, the clouds are reflected in the calm water.

About thecastle Nieuw Herlear
Nieuw Herlaer Castle is situated right next to the hamlet of Halder on the River Dommel and has a long history dating back to the late Middle Ages. Together with Oud-Herlaar and the Haanwijk estate, it forms a historic landscape that has been inhabited for over a thousand years.
Over time, it has come to resemble a complex that has evolved over the centuries, bringing together a 15th-century tower, an 18th-century country house and a 19th-century monastery building. Its location near Halder and the River Dommel also makes it one of the most distinctive spots in the Brabant countryside.
