Morning April in hamlet park estate Haanwijk.
The many birds are singing to welcome spring. High in the sky, people fly towards their distant destination.
#3:23 The cockerel calls out to his mate.
#6:39 Two ladies stroll along, keen to enjoy a well-deserved cup of coffee, but discover to their dismay that the tea house has closed down for good. The ladies come to ask if there’s anywhere else nearby where they can get a coffee, but I have to disappoint them. They like that I’m recording the sound here. We wish each other a lovely day and the ladies set off for the next village, Sint-Michielsgestel.

About the picture
A view of Haanwijk, a hamlet in the Netherlands. A forest path runs to the right. To the right and slightly further back are two brick buildings. The first is a simple house with a pitched roof; the second has a slightly flatter roof. Both are traditional and well-maintained, typical of a small Brabant hamlet. Behind these houses stands a larger, more stately building. It has a decorative tower with a spire and a clock. It lends the surroundings a historic atmosphere.
It is early April, but the trees in the foreground are still bare: tall trunks with thin, branching silhouettes against a pale sky. On the left are bicycle racks, which can be found everywhere in the Netherlands.

About estate Haanwijk
Haanwijk is an estate and nature reserve located near Halder, which is in the territory of the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands.
Haanwijk is approximately 110 hectares in size and includes a manor house, a bake house, a spring house and farmhouses. Several buildings are on the national monument list.
In addition, Haanwijk has park forests with ancient trees, historic dikes and the characteristics of a stream valley landscape.
Haanwijk is located near the confluence of the Dommel and Essche Stroom rivers.
During Roman times, the area was already inhabited. At Halder and Ruimel remains of Roman villas were found that were situated on donks. In the Middle Ages land reclamation took place and low dikes were constructed to protect against flooding.
